Epic Universe: Universal Destroying Modern Theme Park Ideology
Universal casually revealed the coolest thing anyone theme parks has done this century… maybe you’ve seen it. I apologize it took until this announcement to fully understand the severity of Universal's Epic Universe.
What’s about to become the fourth theme park at the Orlando resort is throwing the first punch in what will become a war between the two Orlando titans. Sure, Universal and Disney have always been rivals, but that was to say… a Cold War. A race between who could out innovate the other, a battle for who could convince a vacationer to visit their park over the other.
With Epic Universe that choice becomes more clear. The debut of this park will usher in a new age, the theme park civil war, if you will… a show which I will be enjoying front row.
But this “war” isn’t just about who can build better rides, it's a psychological war. One company uses nostalgia as bait, and the other is flipping that ideology on its head. How? It exposes the greatest Disney World knick-knack of all time, the lie they’ve sold you.
Nowadays, The idea of Disney World has since become better than Disney World. With inflated prices, budget cut rides, and changes to guest experience, the western world has lost its sense of value for what a theme park really is.
But don’t worry, instead mark your calendars, because come summer 2025 we’re reminded of what a good theme park is.
It’s the first time in a while anyone, whether that be florida resident, tourist, or even Disney Vacation Club members, sees the potential Disney could’ve had… but chose not to.
We get to see the full potential of what the theme park titans will make when held to their high-priced standard, forcing them to put their money where their mouth is.
Today, we’re exploring the Epic Universe and the reason it exists. Another third park introduces new experiences, increases capacity, and ultimately revenue… But why did they settle for this style of theme park? Spoiler, They're using Disney's strategy to drive out the Disney customers who are beginning to see the resort's flaws.
Epic Universe is a piece in a calculated game of chess.
Epic Universe isn’t checkmate, but it is check. If Universal continues playing this game they will become the new kingdom of Orlando theme parks.

The Rising Uncertainty of Rocky Mountain Construction
Переглядів 39 тис.4 місяці тому
The story of Rocky Mountain Construction is a success story. How a man flipped the Roller Coaster industry upside-down, bringing his little company from Garage to Greatest. But RMCs success didn’t come from rave reviews or the bottomless pit of Golden Ticket Awards, it came because they were a problem solving company. Fred Grubb began the company in 2001 as a rides builder and wooden coaster re...

Volcano: The Blast Coaster is about to become Volcano: The Wing Coaster taking a shot at its biggest competition. The rivalry between Busch Gardens v. It’s difficult to say either took a bigger hit than Kings Dominion is 2019, facing the sudden closure of thei...
Dollywoods Next Coaster SOLVED?

Upon my last trip to Dollywood there was a certain wall that caught my attention and it should for you too. This wall hides the back side of Big Bear Mountain from a potential expansion plot. Very reminiscent of the wall which bordered Dragonflier before Big Bear opened as a Wildwood Grove Part 2. A few years ago now, I predicted a high-thrill multi-launch coaster by Vekoma for a Wildwood Grove...

Coaster Theory: Kings Dominion Should FEAR Pantheon!

Since we uncovered the truth behind Drachen Spire through leaked documents showing the layout and the desired mystery attraction, it's time we take one step further. Last week we solved the riddle of Pantheons Missing Half with one answer that's been staring us in the eyes the whole time, Drachen Spire. It all makes sense; the proposed land and original blueprints all match with the rumors circ...

As Godly as Pantheon might seem, it can't compare to original concepts where it crossed the Rhine River from Oktoberfest to Festa Italia and surpassed the heights of its Intimidator 305. For the first time, we can take a look at Pantheon in all of its glory, and it b...
RMC Will NEVER Be The Same | Coaster Theory

Lightning Rod is currently in the transition process of becoming a hybrid. RMC built an empire off turning wooden coasters into hybrids, and now they do it with one of their own, a fav favorite. It’s interesting, just about a year ago GCI revealed their Titan track and many of us believed it was either Great Coaster's attempt at a steel coaster or their way of competing with RMC. 13:17 Not to be that guy but after The Mummy refurbishments, they couldn’t fix the animatronic mummy so now it’s a projected face on the wall above where the sarcophagus used to be It is like, one of their oldest and longest running rides so, it’s fair, but I just thought it was funny that an argument you made had a specific “um actually” I could remember off the top of my head Still one of my favorite rides, my wife (soon to be) wants to put Disney tickets on our registry, I’m trying to put my foot down about it being universal lol

Disney is hot. Like, temperature. No shade, no sitting, they dont even have sensory rooms! In Flordia, the heat index is insane. No mom wants to takes her kids to a crowded overpriced theme park with no shade or sitting in a 100-degree weather. Thats insane, amd dangerous. Star Wars world is brown so the heat bounces off the surfaces. Its like being in an actual desert.

I am no one and I know I could bring Disneyworld back to the very top in the blink of an eye. What's happening with Disney is not a matter of "losing perspective", Disneyworld is being brought down on purpose. It is absolutely not believable that any company interested in making money would fight its audience to impose their beliefs instead of giving the public what they want. It's the very basic rule in showbusiness, do you really think Disney doesn't know it? No, they purposely purchased all the franchises to angry the public from all those universes. They destroyed people's hopes with their live action movies full of woke and forced inclusion. And now they tear down nostalgic attractions like Splash Mountain to set Tianan's Bayou Boredom where there are 2 animatronics and a half and 130 miles of saliing idly through scenography. Come on, any Disney fan here already knows how to bring them back to the top, you know if they don't do it, it's because they don't want to.

Disney World is second to none in hospitality and atmosphere - both in parks and hotels. But they definitely have (with notable exceptions) fallen off the pace in the quality and upkeep of their rides and attractions. Some are decades old and it shows. (Looking at you spaceship earth) TRON is a good example of their failings too. The effects and visuals and launch of the coaster are great. The rest of the ride is short and pretty meh. Basically a modern space mountain - a slow short ride in the dark.

If Disney wants to survive, they need to start with building hotels that are affordable. No normal person can spend $500 a night in a “moderate” hotel, and no normal persons/family can afford the deluxe hotels! The value hotels were supposed to be budget friendly, but with them creeping up to $300 per night, no one will want to stay on Disney property, especially after the loss of the airport shuttles.

I feel like I’m out of the loop here. I’ve been to Disney World and Universal Orlando in the last couple years, and my experience suggested that Universal was overwhelmingly behind when it came to ride quality, maintenance, staff conduct, and overall innovation. By contrast, Disney World consistently feels like it’s leading the industry by providing immersive, cutting edge experiences that overshadow anything Universal has done up to now. In fact, all the stuff that Universal has done in recent years feels in some ways like they are just echoing Disney’s philosophies and then got lucky with a poor Disney decision leading to the Rowling deal. And it doesn’t matter that Wazarding World came first, I think Galaxy’s Edge is an objectively higher quality execution of an immersive theme park (despite the fact that I personally like Wizarding World way better). Disney’s consistency of quality is what makes me want to revisit it on my next vacation, while I don’t plan to return to Universal’s two current parks anytime soon. Sure Universal has some 10s, but it also has a lot of 1s and 2s, while Disney is hitting mostly 8s and 9s. So I am confused when park commentators paint Disney as this sleepy non-competitor that is about to be harrowingly crushed by Epic Universe. Don’t get me wrong. I get the hype of Epic Universe. I can’t wait to go. But I promise you that once I get a day in at EU, I’m gonna spend the rest of the week park hopping at Disney. So someone please help me understand why Disney’s less aggressive approach is so concerning, when there’s clearly a market for their trusted quality.

"Disneyland Forward" is a signal to me that Disney has thrown in the metaphorical towel in FL, if you look at that plan it shows the most amount of money going into the CA parks since California Adventure opened... I feel like they know that the market share is inevitably going to be cut into significantly by the opening of Epic Universe. You are seeing Disney neglect the FL parks and squeezing the consumer for every last dollar they can before that new park opens.

It’s so obvious to me what Disney’s next step should be. With universal opening the door to video games, Disney needs a beloved video game franchise that comes from about 20 years ago. What should that be? Kingdom freaking Hearts! It is a wonder to me how Disney has yet to capitalize on this. There are so many people my age, who still hold that franchise so dearly!

I live in Tampa with kids aged 8 and 6. We are pass holders to both parks. Over the last 3 years we have switched to spending more time at universal than at Disney. It’s hard to justify the cost any more with Disney. It is so busy and the lines are ridiculous. Yes, universal can be expensive too but at least when you buy a fast pass, it works like it should and it’s not super complicated like disneys crazy ride reservation. Plus, Hagrids and velocicoaster are 2x better rides then anything Disney’s got by a long shot. I guess it seems like universal is trying to improve guest experiences and I feel like with Disney, we are taken more for granted.
